Lead users

Hvorfor:
Det kan være en god ide at benytte sig af brugernes innnovationspotentiale. Leadusers er brugere, som selv laver innovation. Lead users er på forkant med udviklingen, har en specifik viden om emnet, og de giver engagement og personligt bidrag. For at kunne bruges, skal de dog også have en grund til selv at innovere. Det er lead userne, der kan hjælpe bibliotekerne med at spotte, hvad andre brugere vil have af behov i fremtiden.

Hvordan:
Lead user deler ofte ud af deres innovationer uden nogen økonomisk profit. Det hænger sammen med den åbne innovationstilgang. Det har vist sig, at innovatører som lægger deres innovation åbent ud, så andre kan bruge det og arbejde videre på det, står til at opnå en større genvist, end dem der patentbeskytter deres innovationer (ifølge Eric von Hippel). Det kan skyldes, at åbenhed skaber en større udbredelse og en større omtale som fx open source-software gør. Hvis du vil benytte denne metode, så start med at identificere lead userne indenfor det område, du arbejder med, og giv dem adgang til det, de skal bruge (det kan være data, viden og lignende).

Men hvis brugerne selv udvikler produkterne, er der måske ikke behov for bibliotekerne? Jo det kan der være i nogen sammenhænge - fx hvis det omhandler forandringer i det fysiske bibliotek. Her kan biblioteket være med til at stille materiale til rådighed, så brugerne kan gennemføre deres innovationer. I de digitale innovationer kan bibliotekerne også gå ind og støtte op om brugernes innovationer ved at synliggøre dem, bidrage med ideer osv.

LEGO Mindstorms - nørderne laver legomodellerne: Lego Mindstorms er blevet samlingspunkt for netværk af LEGO-entusiaster. Det er kunder der selv udgiver nyhedsbreve om lego, de arrangerer messer osv hvor de deler deres nyeste Lego-konstruktioner med hinanden. Litteratursidens LitLab: I den nye udgave af Litteratursiden lægges sidens kildekode og datagrundlag frit tilgængelig for alle interesserede. Ved at gøre dette giver man eventuelle leadusere adgang til det, de skal brug for at lave innovationer
